Spartan-IIE Based Accelerator(TM) Provides Motor Control Designers With A High-Performance, Flexible, Low-Cost Design
SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Xilinx, Inc. and International Rectifier , the world leader in power management technology, announced today the immediate availability of the Accelerator motor control design platform, based on the low-cost Xilinx(R) Spartan-IIE(TM) FPGA and International Rectifier Motion Control Mixed Signal Chipset. The Accelerator platform provides motor designers a low-cost, reconfigurable signal processing architecture using parallel processing and soft peripherals that achieves unmatched motor control performance with feedback control loop bandwidth up to 5 kHz. By providing both the high bandwidth needed for torque control and the flexibility for many types of motion peripherals, the Accelerator platform is also ideal for automotive drive train controls, automated assembly, precision material handling and more.

Price and Availability
The Accelerator design platform is available now. Pricing for the development system is $9,500/unit. The part number is IRACS201, which includes all hardware for a 1.5-kilowatt servo amp, pre-loaded code into a Xilinx XC18V02 EEPROM targeted for the Spartan IIE-300, and ServoDesigner, Windows- based configuration software. The actual object code (EXO format) and source code (Verilog) are licensed separately from International Rectifier.
